Generally, industrial gases have a large production and sales volume, but their purity requirements are not high. Although the production and sales volume of special gases is small, according to different uses, there are strict requirements for the purity or composition of different special gases, the allowable high content of harmful impurities, and the packaging, storage, and transportation of products. They belong to high-tech and high value-added products. Usually, special gases can be divided into three categories, namely high-purity or high-purity gases, standard calibration gases, and mixed gases with specific compositions.

Gas products, as an important basic raw material in modern industry, have a wide range of applications. They are widely used in sectors such as metallurgy, steel, petroleum, chemical engineering, machinery, electronics, glass, ceramics, building materials, construction, food processing, medicine, etc., and all use a large amount of commonly used or special gases. Due to the wide application coverage of gas products, gas production and supply are generally regarded as the infrastructure of industrial investment environment, just like power supply and water supply, and are regarded as the "lifeline" of the national economy and listed as the public utility industry. What is the classification of industrial gases?

In the standard "Classification and Labeling of Commonly Used Hazardous Chemicals" (GB13690-1992), industrial gases are usually divided into two categories: compressed gases and liquefied gases. These chemicals refer to compressed, liquefied, or pressurized dissolved gases. By pressurizing or cooling, the distance between gas molecules can be greatly reduced and pressed into the cylinder. This type of gas is called compressed gas (also known as gas, such as oxygen, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, etc.). If the compressed gas continues to be properly pressurized and cooled, it will become a liquid, called liquefied gas (such as liquid chlorine, liquid ammonia, liquid carbon dioxide, etc.) In addition, there is a gas with unstable properties that needs to be dissolved in a solvent and stored in a steel cylinder under pressure. This gas is called dissolved gas (such as dissolved acetylene).

Industrial Waste Gas Standards

Industrial gases can be divided into four categories based on their chemical properties: (1) Highly toxic gases, which are highly toxic and can cause poisoning or even death when they invade the human body. Such as chlorine, ammonia, etc Flammable gas, with flammability, chemical explosion hazard, and certain toxicity. Such as hydrogen, acetylene, etc. (3) Combustion supporting gas, which has the ability to support combustion but does not burn itself, poses a risk of expanding the fire, such as oxygen. (4) Non combustible gas, suffocating to humans, stable in nature, non flammable, such as nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and argon. According to the standard GB13690-1992, the above four gases are divided into three subcategories, namely Class 2.1 combustible gases, Class 2.2 non combustible gases (including combustion supporting gases), and Class 2.3 toxic gases.

The common physical properties of industrial gases can be summarized as: compressibility and expansibility. When the temperature of a certain amount of gas remains basically constant, the greater the pressure, the smaller its volume. If you continue to pressurize, the gas will be compressed into liquid, which is the compressibility of the gas. Industrial gases are usually stored in steel cylinders in a compressed or liquefied state. After the gas is illuminated or heated, the temperature increases, the intermolecular thermal motion intensifies, and the volume increases. If a gas is heated to a higher temperature in a container, the greater the pressure formed after expansion, which is the thermal expansion of the gas. Compressed gas and liquefied gas are packed in one container. If exposed to high temperatures and sunlight, gases can easily expand and generate significant pressure. When the pressure exceeds the compressive strength of the container, it can cause an explosion.
